Personal Brand development is one of the most important projects any designer will undertake during their career. Your identity is the means of selling yourself and your work to potential clients.
Having been set this project by my course lecturers, the brief was loose enough to interpret our own identity through whatever means necessary, however, we were expected to produce several final outcomes – Curriculum Vitae, Business Cards, 3D Object, Identity and a website or draft illustration of six webpage designs. After completing several different designs I went back to the drawing board, due to the fact that both lecturers and myself agreed the branding was too ‘corporate’ and didn’t say enough about myself. I then decided to adapt one of the most personal traits each person uses in day to day life ‘Our Signature’.
This not only allowed me to be creative and utilize the elegance of scripted type, it also pin-pointed that element of ‘personal’ that had been missing from my previous designs. After playing with various colourways, I settled on a Midnight/Royal Blue, partly as blue is my favorite colour, but also because the particular hue gave off the ‘luxurious’ vibe that I was after.
