CSN, Cardiff Sports Nutrition is an establish sports nutrition company based in the centre of Cardiff.
The company owner (Marc Robinson) approached me seeking advice on a poor re-brand that had been recently undertaken by another agency. After providing him with honest and in-depth advice, he requested I give the brand the refresh that it deserved.
CSN already has a very loyal and diverse customer base and its multiple years within the nutritional industry (including its capture of a multitude of awards), meant that the main issue to overcome; would be to face-lift the brand without alienating the existing customers, as well as ensuring the companies distributors could work with a brand profile that visually reflected CSN’s professionalism and acquired knowledge of their market.
The corresponding brief would be self-directed, with intervals of feedback from Marc at each stage of development. Stages 1 -3 consisted of researching potential market competition; this would inform a stronger typeface selection and colour palette in comparison to the one previously used. A darker red and greyscale colour palette, coupled with a custom display face (Bank Gothic Manipulation) and secondary typefaces FF-Meta and Melior Sans saw the brand take on a more professional and concise look easily on par with some of the industry giants. The entire branding system utilised ‘Golden Ratio Theory’ to ensure that proportionately every aspect of the logo design would be visually stunning.
